Billy and I swam together at the Boy's Club Swim Team. We had great times together, each summer one of the great trips was to Dallas for a Regional Boys Club swim meet.

Each year the team got to go to Six Flags over Texas and were allowed to run free!! Billy and I did just that...as it was getting late we would love to ride the log ride. Billy taught me the fastest way back around was going thru the restricted areas....we could get back in line in seconds!

Billy went on to boxing during high school while I stayed with swimming. But we kept in touch and he was a great friend.

I was shocked and heartbroken when I learned how he had passed away in a lake near Ft. Smith. I didn't get all of the story, but I was amazed such a good swimmer could drown...maybe someone knows more of the details?

My mom died my sophomore year in college and Billy was buried in the same cemetary a few years later and not far from the gravesite of my mother. I often visited his gravesite when I came to Ft Smith.

I will always cherish our friendship and the great times we had as kids!!
